The Reearth charity festival 2010
The Reearth festival is a 2-day massive beach and jungle party with focus on much needed local charitable causes. These charitable causes works towards local sustainable tourism. The long term goal is to wipe out the negative footprints tourism can make on the local environment and benefit the local economy.
After getting local permits and organizing the charity organization, Reearth soon became a two day festival in Koh Samui on 25th and 26th of Feb 2010 with very strong local support. The festival is aimed at Scandinavian and European tourists, but everybody is of course welcome.
Some of the most popular bands in Sweden are performing.
Timbuktu, one of the founders of Reearth and a five time Grammy Award winning rap artist, with several big hits to his name is just one of the main acts. He has performed throughout Scandinavia for the past ten years together with acclaimed Swedish funk orchestra Damn, who will also be accompanying him on stage in Koh Samui.
The girls in Sahara Hotnights reign supreme on the domestic scene. The album What If Leaving Is A Loving Thing was in the sales charts for over a year straight and is now certified platinum. The single Cheek To Cheek has reached gold status and was the most played song on national radio in Sweden last year. Even more remarkable is the fact that another single of theirs, Visit To Vienna, was the second most played!
Magnus Tingsek a Swedish soul pop phenomenon will bring his unique brand of life-celebrating music to the stage at Reearth 2010. He is currently on tour in Scandinavia with his fourth album Restless Soul which has received rave reviews by some of Sweden’s biggest newspapers.
Looptroop Rockers, the always on tour worldwide Swedish hiphop sensation will also be rocking the crowd on Samui! After lead rapper Promoes sweeping mega hit Svennebanan was released the spring 2009 in Sweden and Denmark the legendary Looptroop Rockers have not only cemented their underground king status, but also established themselves as one of the biggest Scandinavian rap acts period.
Some of Swedens most interesting deejays of today will be ruling the dance floor at Reearth. Deejays and performers like Husarrest and Savage Skulls, a Swedish dance music act who have already remixed the likes of Miike Snow, Looptroop, Lykke Li and Lorenz Rhode are guaranteed to keep the crowds moving until sunrise. Johanna Olfsson a veteran of the Swedish house music scene will be blending, soul, funk and dance tunes to motivate the happy feet at Reearth.
